  • One For Gianni

    Posted 14 July 2017

On March 6, 1991, Gianni Versace forever changed the fashion world after showing his Fall Winter collection, appropriately dubbed “The Freedom Collection”. He is often credited with creating the ‘supermodel' after causing a global sensation when he sent sent four models, Cindy (Crawford), Linda (Evangelista), Christy (Turlington) and Naomi (Campbell), down the runway miming to George Michael’s song Freedom.  Those models (along with Tatjana Patitz) had starred in video which was on heavy rotation on MTV, so the image of them at Versace's show singing along to “Freedom" not only captured the imagination of the fashion industry but also came to define an era.

  • Lindy-Loo (Linda Evangelista: The Model's Model)

It was the haircut that sent shock waves through the fashion world.
In 1988, Linda Evangelista’s long brunette locks were cut into a boyish crop by hairdresser Julien d’Y’s. Though Linda’s initial reaction was one of shock and tears, the haircut would be transformative to her career and catapult her into the modeling stratosphere.

In my journey through fashion, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the world’s most beautiful women. Many of my dear friends are “supermodels”, women who represent an ideal standard of beauty. But these women are also transcendent because they encompass an internal beauty that truly make them exceptional. And for me, no woman is more exceptional than Carine Roitfeld. A former fashion editor, current founder of the CR Fashion book and Global Fashion Director of Harper’s Bazaar, Carine not only inspires me as a designer, but as a woman.

  • Ralph & The American Dream

    Posted 04 July 2016

As the Fourth of July holiday is being celebrated in America, I thought it appropriate to dedicate a post to an American icon. And when I think about a designer that best represents American heritage and values, none other is more emblematic than Ralph Lauren.

  • A Patterned Life: How To Wear a Print

    Posted 03 June 2016

I’m a print girl.  In fact, I’ve always been drawn to prints and patterns that create a bold fashion statement. Prints are timeless, add edge to a wardrobe, and appeal to a diverse age group (great style knows no age after all). While some people love print, others won't go near it, but I’ve had an affinity towards patterns and they have been a part of my personal fashion history.

  • Knockout Weekend in the Hamptons

    Posted 28 May 2016

It all starts with the Hamptons. Twelve years ago, I launched Little Joe Woman in  New York's seaside villages known as the Hamptons. Our first collection consisted solely of a few key pieces--six slips and camisoles-- but now has grown to a global brand that includes dresses, tops, handbags and accessories, and yes even a Hamptons tote. And so I’m thrilled to announce that Little Joe Woman by Gail Elliott will be a part of a collection of items curated for the new Hamptons boutique,  Knockout Beauty, opening this Friday in time for the Memorial Day holiday.

I was first discovered working at a McDonald's when I was 15 years old. Just kidding, you tend to hear stories about how girls were discovered working in a fast food restaurant or at an airport but my story isn’t as serendipitous.
