Shooting With Duran Duran - A View To A Kill

Before we launched our women’s clothing brand Little Joe Woman by Gail Elliott, I was a fashion model living in New York for 24 years from the late 80s / 90s.

I was a very established model working for years with Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Yasmeen Ghauri, Yasmin Le Bon and many of the other supermodels of that time.

Most of my work was shooting fashion magazines, campaigns and during the show season walking the international runways in Paris, Milan and New York for every major designer but occasionally I’d shoot a TV commercial, or music video for a rock band.

The Eiffel Tower was closed for the day.

We were up quite high as you can see in the video, and I remember it being very windy and pretty cold.

I wore my favourite designer Azzedine Alaia, who was just starting out at the time.

The band all had their own trailers and I had mine... very rock-chic for a young model like me in 1985...!

I hadn’t met Yasmin Parvaneh yet who would become Yasmin Le Bon, one of my best friends and one of my bridesmaids but I’d heard of her because Simon Le Bon had not long before then taken her on their first date to the Raiders Of The Lost Ark movie premiere in London which was a big deal then, and their date was all over the British newspapers with Duran Duran being one of the biggest bands in the world in the 80s and 90s.

It was great working with Duran Duran and meeting Simon, Nick Rhodes and John Taylor.

It was all super glamorous and very 80s - Nick even borrowed my hot pink YSL lipstick for the shoot, which was THE shade at the time... and the boys, their wives and I went on to share many years of backstage fun at their concerts and at our runway shows! Xx 💋
