As the Fourth of July holiday is being celebrated in America, I thought it appropriate to dedicate a post to an American icon. And when I think about a designer that best represents American heritage and values, none other is more emblematic than Ralph Lauren.

It all starts with the Hamptons. Twelve years ago, I launched Little Joe Woman in  New York's seaside villages known as the Hamptons. Our first collection consisted solely of a few key pieces--six slips and camisoles-- but now has grown to a global brand that includes dresses, tops, handbags and accessories, and yes even a Hamptons tote.
